The name says it all. From the formation of this rock powerhouse, there has always been two goals in mind: for the band to be true to themselves and their music, and to avoid the cookie cutter trends that pervade the music industry.
Ever ambitious, Redefine released a demo just months after their formation and hit the local music scene immediately, playing all over North Texas. A local favorite in their hometown of Denton, Redefine has played to packed crowds in many venues in the Metroplex, from Andy's and the Inferno (and the Drink) in Denton, to Firewater, Clearview, Liquid Lounge, the Galaxy Club, the DarkSide Lounge, and even headlining the Curtain Club in Dallas.
As Redefine's popularity grew, so did the need for a studio album. Redefine teamed up with renowned producer Alex Gerst (Slow Roosevelt, South FM, The Feds) in 2005 to begin work on their 6 song, self-titled studio EP. From crushing riffs and penetrating bass lines to jaw-dropping solos and inspired lyrics, their album has definitely raised the bar. In fact, it was so highly anticipated that Redefine played to a full house at The Inferno upon the album's release in late January 2006. Shortly after the CD release show, original bassist Mike Allen was replaced by bassist David Spinks, further tightening the band's unique sound.
After that, the band would decide to take their music to an even higher element, and parted ways with their drummer Shane Reynolds to welcome Matt Loria into the family on drums. As this year makes its way through, the final four - Mike Kelp, Chris Apaliski, Dave Spinks, and Matt Loria will plow through the area to bring the rock to your ears. This is the year for Redefine. Stay tuned for the release of their second album soon.
